January 16, 2019 – Otter Tail County, MN-

The Otter Tail County Solid Waste Department announces that the Pelican Rapids Redemption Center (next to the Dairy Queen) will have its last day of business on Saturday, March 2nd, 2019. The site will continue to be a drop-off recycling location for the foreseeable future.

Fiscal responsibility is one of the core values of Otter Tail County, which is one of the most financially stable counties in the state. The decision was made to close the Pelican Rapids Redemption Center due to high operating expenses that were costing Otter Tail County a substantial amount of money every year.

There are several other locations in the area for those still interested in redeeming their cans for cash:

  • The Otter Tail County Recycling Center: 1115 North Tower Road in Fergus Falls
  • Sigelman Steel: 702 19th St. in Fergus Falls
  • Wadena Hide & Fur Company: 700 Ash Ave. NW in Wadena
  • Hartman Hide & Fur: 500 Summit Ave. in Detroit Lakes
