Land and Resource staff attend the National Onsite Wastewater Recycling Association 2018 Mega-Conference

Otter Tail County Land & Resource staff, along with a few septic system contractors from Otter Tail County, attended the National Onsite Wastewater Recycling Association (NOWRA) 2018 Mega-Conference in Bloomington, MN from October 21-24, 2018. The conference had attendees from around the country and one attendee that came all the way from Australia to learn about septic systems in Minnesota. Attendees saw keynote speeches from the Commissioner of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency as well as a representative from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. During a field trip on October 24, 2018, Land & Resource staff got a tour of the new, large subsurface sewage treatment system that serves downtown Afton, which is the largest septic system in the State of Minnesota. Land & Resource Director, Chris LeClair, also helped lead a tour of a midsized subsurface sewage treatment system in Denmark Township, MN that services a county campground that he helped design and operated from 2013-2017.
