SERVICE ALERT- COVID-19
The Recorders office currently has limited staffing and limited hours due to COVID-19. Staff will be answering the phone, receiving mailed in documents, and responding to Vital Records requests. The preferred method for recording land documents is by e-recording. We will currently accept mailed in land documents, however, due to the ever-changing restrictions this could change in the near future.
Provide professional customer service while accurately & efficiently recording real estate transfers, personal property documents & vital records.
The Otter Tail County Recorder & Registrar of Titles office is the custodian of all records of the County pertaining to personal property, real estate transfers and vital statistic records (Birth, Death & Marriage). We provide storage, access, retrieval and copies of these records for the public and businesses.
Other documents recorded in our office include State and Federal Tax Liens, Veterans of Armed Services discharges, Notary Public registration and Ministerial credentials.
Otter Tail County does not provide assistance in the completion of legal forms nor does the County assume liability for persons who attempt to complete legal documentation on their own. Once a document is recorded it is a permanent record and cannot be altered or removed by our office. A document can only be removed with a Court Order. Consulting with a legal representative to assist in land transfer documents and title searches is recommended.
