Impacts on County Services
Most county building locations are closed to the public – these will not be reevaluated to reopen before May 4 in alignment with Governor Walz’s current stay-at-home order. Most service questions can be answered by phone or email. Updates to county services and operations will be posted here as they’re available. (Updated April 16 – 5 p.m.)
DMV OFFICES TO OPEN BY APPOINTMENT ONLY
Fergus Falls Motor Vehicle office will begin appointments for driver license renewals, duplicates and address changes. Hours: 8:00 – 4:00 Monday-Friday. Please call 218-998-8080 to set up your appointment.
IF YOUR DRIVERS LICENSE IS NOT EXPIRED, please wait until it is closer to expiration to allow those whose license is expired to renew. If you have tab renewal, we are encouraging you to utilize our drop off box located outside of the Government Services Center. If you need a title transfer please call our office to set up an appointment. Our doors with be closed to the public at this time.
Parks and Trails (Phelps Mill)
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the playground equipment, shelters and restrooms at Phelps Mill Park have been closed. We will reopen shelter reservations upon further guidance from MDH and Otter Tail County Public Health.
Recycling and Disposal
The Household Hazardous Waste Facility in Fergus Falls is closed to the public
The Recycling Redemption Center in Fergus Falls is closed to the public. We are still collecting recycling across the county, including cardboard from businesses.
Transfer Stations are open normal hours, but please do your part and limit visits as much as possible. If you must visit a Transfer Station, these additional precautions are in place:
1. Scale houses are closed to the public
2. Please stay in your vehicle and wait for further instruction
3. Staff are unable to assist with unloading at this time, bring help if you cannot do it yourself
4. Make your visit as brief as possible.
The Veterans Service department will be conducting all business with our veterans through remote means. We are also suspending our van ride program until further notice. Some COVID-19 related grants are available.
